Plastics or Planet: Can We Enjoy This Miracle Material and Have A Clean Environment Too? — Peter Borgo

Some 150 years ago, we created a lightweight, strong, and inexpensive material. We made it, we depend on it, and we are now drowning in it.  Plastic has made modern life possible. But more than 40 percent of it is used just once, and it is choking our waterways and landfills. This presentation will answer three questions that deal with the 9.2 billion tons of plastic that the world must deal with: (1) What is the toll on wildlife? (2) Is it a threat to human health? and (3) How can we stem the tide?

Join us to explore local, state, and international issues.  This group seeks to understand varied perspectives and examine new ideas for problem solving.  Everyone with an interest in such matters and a willingness to discuss them in a completely civil manner is invited.

The group meets in the Montrose Regional Library Meeting Room from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on one Thursday each month, May through January.
