Keeping Elections Fair   — Meg Nagel & Barb Krebs

Policies and procedures affect elections.  We want to make voting easily accessible to all eligible voters.  We also want to prevent fraud.  Are the two incompatible?  How do Colorado’s practices compare with other states? What procedures does the Montrose County Clerk follow to insure fair and safe elections?  The Colorado legislature has signed onto the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, pledging our Electoral College votes to the winner of the national popular vote (if enough states sign on).  Is this a good idea?  We’ll also introduce ballot issues voters can expect to encounter this November.

Join us to explore local, state, and international issues.  This group seeks to understand varied perspectives and examine new ideas for problem solving.  Everyone with an interest in such matters and a willingness to discuss them in a completely civil manner is invited.

The group meets in the Montrose Regional Library Meeting Room from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on one Thursday each month, May through January.
