COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT HEALTHCARE SYSTEMS

Most of us know how the American healthcare system works (or doesn’t work). However, few of us know much about how other developed countries provide their citizens with medical services and pay for them.

Alan Read, a retired biochemist, will give us a PowerPoint presentation that outlines the healthcare systems for 5 countries: USA, Canada, Britain, France, and Germany. Performance and cost of these different systems will be compared, followed by a summary of strengths and weaknesses.

Because Healthcare is such a complicated topic, it is a prime target for misinformation and scare tactics, so this will be a fine opportunity to learn more about this issue that is so important to us all.
