National Parks Marathon Project – A Personal Quest to Run 26.2 Miles in All 61 U.S. National Parks.

Tired of the corporate world and being distant from the outdoors he enjoys, in mid-2016, Bill Sycalik packed up his car and started a 15 month sabbatical where he ran 51 marathons in all the National Parks outside of Alaska. He has since run marathons at the two new National Parks and is currently in Alaska knocking two more off the list (Denali and Wrangell St. Elias).

Hear how Bill decided to make a change, break out of the routine and embrace the fear and unknown of a grand adventure that has taken him to some of the most beautiful natural places in our world. Bill will also share some of his favorite National Parks for trail running and exploring. Bill will speak about his experiences on September 27, 6:30 – 8:00 in the library meeting room.  All are welcome to join him for a trail run sponsored by the San Juan Mountain Runners on Saturday morning, September 28.

*Please note that the library is closed for staff training on September 27, but will open the meeting room at 6:00 for this special event.
