This year (2015) poetry lovers and attendees of Open Mic are in for a treat!

Funded by the Friends of the Library, each month (with the exception of Feb and the 3 months of the summer) a poet from mostly the southwestern part of the state, but sometimes as far away as Albuquerque or even New York City will share their poetry with us.  This program has been started by Art Goodtimes, Telluride poet (and San Miguel County Commissioner) who has been organizing the Telluride Institute’s Talking Gourds Poetry Club for over a year.

Each Open Mic will feature a guest poet.  To start things off, Art himself will join us, along with Ellen Metrick of Norwood.  Following his performance we’ll invite those in attendance to read pieces of their own or the work of a favorite other.  Poems, short stories, short bits of memoirs and acoustic music are all welcome, as are audience members who simply want to appreciate the reading of others.

Free and open to the public.  Refreshments provided.
