Crafternoon

Craftivism is using creativity to improve the world.  The library’s Crafternoon club practices craftivism by crocheting and knitting items for charity.  Crafters have made blankets for shelter animals, afghans for nursing homes and children’s charities, and hats and scarves for homeless shelters.  All ability levels are welcome, and supplies are provided.  Feel free to bring your own personal project to work on instead and enjoy the companionship of other crafters.

Donations of acrylic worsted or washable wool-blend yarn are always needed!

Crafternoon meets on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Wednesdays every month, from 2:30 – 4:30, in the Montrose Library Meeting Room.  For more information, please call Carla or Tania at 249-9656.

How We Conquered the Galaxy

Amazing!  Astounding!  Follow along as CMU professor John Nizalowski traces the development of science fiction—in print and media–from its pulp origins in the 1920’s and 1930’s, through the Golden Age of the 1940’s & 1950’s, to the New Wave movement of the1960’s and 1970’s.  Nizalowski has written extensively about science-fiction and fantasy, and interviewed such luminaries of fantastic fiction as George R. R. Martin and Roger Zelazny. He teaches mythology, creative writing, and composition at Colorado Mesa University.
