The Montrose Library relies on volunteers not only to help us with some of our everyday tasks, such as shelving books, but also to expand our programs and services. In 2003 volunteers gave us over 3,486 hours of help and our totals for 2004 are already over those for last year.
Besides getting to work with great people (our patrons and volunteers are, in our opinion, some of the best folks in town) and spend time around books (which means you see new books as they come in and come across interesting old books on our shelves), there are tangible advantages to volunteering:
- you are not charged overdue fines;
- for every 100 hours you volunteer you are given a Thank You book sticker to place in one of your favorite books;
- you are invited to special Library People parties and events.
And of course if you are looking to learn new skills, we do what we can to promote that.
So, come join the ranks of Library People by volunteering with us. Below are some of the volunteer challenges we need help with right now. Just call Meg at 249-9656 and arrange an interview.
