Young Adults: Upcoming Programs

Like to write stories or poems? Interested in having your creative work published?

If you’re between the ages of 12 and 19, we encourage you to submit to the new Teen Literary Magazine, to be published by the Montrose Regional Library and the Teen Advisory Board!

Send your submissions of short fiction or poems (more than one poem is great!) to before May 21 to be considered.

While submission doesn’t guarantee acceptance, we HIGHLY encourage you to send your work!

Book Nerds Unite! Want to read and discuss? Want a free book? Join us for Teen(ish) Book Club every month on Zoom.

May’s pick is The Beast Player by Nahoko Uehashi. Recommended for ages 12ish and up. Register at or by emailing

We’ll meet on Friday, April 21, from 4:15-5:15pm on Zoom. Fun and debate shall ensue.

*Update: the first 20 registrants will receive free copies of the book, but only a few copies remain, so sign up ASAP!*

Calling all writers 12-18! Need time to work on your novel, short stories, poems, or essays? Want a group to keep you motivated and hold you accountable? Join us on Zoom for Teen Write-Ins on Wednesdays from 3:45-4:45pm.

This is NOT a workshop. You never have to share your work or have it critiqued. It’s simply a space to keep us productive and writing.

A session typically consists of two 20-minute writing sprints, and a check-in in the middle.

If interested, text or call Amy at 970-275-9383 or email her at for the Zoom log-in.

Starting May 1, sign up for May’s Teen Takeout. May’s offering provides all the materials to create your own abstract painting: paint brushes, canvas, paint, tape, and instructions.

If you’re ready to get arty, register no earlier than May 1 by emailing Amy at or texting or calling her at 970-275-9383.
