The Libraries of Montrose County Foundation presents:
Jon Waterman
Sunday, August 18th, 4-6 pm
MONTROSE PAVILION
FREE tickets available at the Montrose Regional Library
Through imagery and video, Jon Waterman’s enthralling presentation will take us across North America’s most remote landscapes. With anecdotes from his most recent book, Atlas of Wild America (National Geographic, Nov. 2023) Jon will share a lifetime’s worth of experiences—sea kayaking, canoeing, packrafting, skiing, dogsledding, and backpacking—in wild places across the continent. On this, the 60th anniversary of the Wilderness Act, Jon will also celebrate and describe what wilderness means to the American culture. Reviewed in Forbes magazine (https://www.forbes.com/sites/lauramanske/2023/10/28/national-geographics-most-breathtaking-places-in-wild-america-to-love/ ) as “a picturesque super-dive into spectacular horizons” the book was recently awarded the international Cartography and Geographic Information Society’s Best Atlas of the Year. A book signing will follow the lecture.
A frequent National Geographic grantee and NEA Literary Fellow, Jon is the author of 17 books, including the bestselling Atlas of the National Parks. He lives in Carbondale, Colorado.
Generously underwritten by: Edward Jones, Renfrow Realty, Cimarron Wealth Management, Friends of the Montrose Library, Alpine Bank, Winger Books, and Dr. Tom Wiard & Emily Schneider.
